Growing up just outside of Nashville in Franklin, TN, I carry a great deal of hometown pride with me. I love Nashville and I loved growing up there. With the growing tourism industry in my beloved hometown, one of my most frequently asked questions is, “What do you recommend I do when I visit?”
To share some of my favorite spots, I partnered up with Alaina from Jordan & Alaina Photography to show you around one of our favorite Nashville neighborhoods: 12South.
This Nashville neighborhood is a trendy hot spot full of locally owned boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. Rising in popularity, it is a great spot for craft beers and happy hours, while also offering family friendly activities as well.
Find a place to park and walk the main street to hit some of my favorite shopping spots. Stop by Whites Mercantile for some tasteful gifts and/or home decor, or pop into the infamous Draper James, owned by Nashville native Reese Witherspoon, with apparel and accessories to outfit the modern day Southern Belle.
And if you’re lucky, you’ll catch the wandering flower truck that has become a local favorite sitting along the strip.
Amelia’s Flower Truck
Amelia’s Flower Truck is flower truck perfection with it’s beautiful display of fresh offerings in styled galvanized tins. Many locals seek out the truck to create their dining room tablescapes, but if you aren’t keen on interior design, you can enlist the of help their friendly staff who will happily create a bouquet for you to freshen up a room or gift to a loved one.
Check their schedule online so you don’t miss them. And hey- they also book events!
While you’re wandering, you’re sure to work up an appetite. If you’re anything like me, guacamole ALWAYS sounds good.
Head on over to Bar Taco, a taco joint “inspired by the beach culture of Brazil, Uruguay and Southern California.”
Kick back and enjoy some of their freshly squeezed juices and a delicious, variety plate of tacos of your choosing. These 3-bite tacos are perfect to mix and match while enjoying the coastal vibes of the restaurant, and if you’re opting for sides, Alaina and I highly recommend the corn, which you can order off the cob as well.
