It’s been a crazy rainy week here. The temperatures have also dropped which has me leaning further into my Chicago Fall bucket list. Does anyone else create a bucket list of fall-tivities??
I want to go and try all the best pumpkin spice and apple desserts that Chicago has to offer. I want to go to pumpkin patches. I want to see parades. I’m totally leaning into the season.
I feel like our family has finally found a good routine here in Chicago and it’s feeling a lot more like home. Now that everything isn’t totally overwhelming we’re getting out and really experiencing the city.
Over the weekend we trekked it downtown to watch a Halloween parade with one of my friends from high school, and then yesterday Adam and I were lucky enough to attend a private shopping event at the new Nordstrom Rack that’s opening just down the street. It was all so fun!
We’ve also gotten plugged in with a great community of people who are also on-the-go parents. The reason I add “on-the-go” to “parents” is because these couples have been intentional about not stopping their lives just because they have kids. They still go out and do things. They have adventures. They travel the world and endure the international flights. They kill it at their jobs. They include their kids in the hustle and bustle of city life.
They are just these amazing go-getters with little tag-a-long sidekicks.
This is such a HUGE relief for our family because that’s exactly how Adam and I want to model our lives as parents. Those of you other mamas out there may be able to relate, but sometimes just the thought of getting out with a little one can be so exhausting. With not knowing whether or not Riv is going to throw a tantrum, it’s so easy to want to play it safe and just stay home.
However, it’s been especially encouraging for me to see these other couples out there living their best lives with kids. And not only that, but it’s also such a great community to lean on when parenthood/life balance feel so overwhelming.
Anyway, forgive my tangent.
Are you guys leaning into the season? Carving pumpkins? Going to corn mazes? Drink PSLs?
Let me know!
Plaid is such a solid fashion staple for the season, and I’m loving this flowy, shirt dress. This dress is from last season so it’s no longer available, but I’ve linked a couple other great ones. Even better- all three are on sale!
Shoes & Hat are both from Target.
